Algonquin Travel Corporation (ATC) traces its roots back to 1978 with the amalgamation of two strong, competing Ottawa based travel agency chains. Ottawa Travel (founded in 1968) and Algonquin Travel (founded in 1964) became the dominant players in the local vacation travel market.

Using franchising as the primary strategy for national expansion, the company expanded throughout Canada in the 1990's.  In Quebec, our agencies are branded Voyages Algonquin and Voyages Funtastique.

In October 2000, Algonquin Travel Corporation was purchased by MyTravel Group, plc (formerly Airtours, plc), a global leisure travel services company with operations in 24 countries around the world. Algonquin Travel forms an integral part of MyTravel Canada, which also includes Canadian tour operators Sunquest Vacations, ALBATours, and Holiday House.
